THE FOWLERS at THE GREAT DORSET STEAM FAIR 1996

This major manufacturer and innovator is represented here with an historic collection of 120 Fowler products from Steam to Diesel assembled by Robert Coles. The development of the safety valve could be observed on engines of varying ages; a pair of very early ploughing engines for his twin engine ploughing system; the importance of his balanced plough; a section showing ploughing in progress; a unique sidewinding drum fitted to a Z7 type -  at 21hp the biggest engines built - designed for the sugar plantations; the mole drain- improving agricultural land immeasurably; the earth scoop; the only Fowler steam wagon remaining; "Renown" setting up Harry Lee's Steam Yachts; the Diesels such as the Gyrotillors; unique items such as the Challenger tractor; the road engines; the Lions and Super Lions; all the famous Showmans as part of the great line-up; Mike Middlewood gaining the award for his 18 year restoration of  "AJAX"
